An award-winning choreographer, Riccardo Buscarini is an artist focused on constantly changing his creative approach to choreography and exploring its possible interactions with other art forms. His works to date are all quite different and include pieces for the stage, urban spaces and art galleries.
Riccardo began his training at Accademia Domenichino da Piacenza/IT and London Contemporary Dance School where he graduated in 2009. In 2010 he received a danceWEB scholarship to join Impulstanz, Vienna and was one of the finalists of The Place Prize. In 2011 he was one the Creatives in Residence at The Hospital Club, London where he directed Brooke Roberts’s show (Wo)man + Machine part of London Fashion Week. In the same year he won Premio Prospettiva Danza in Padua/IT with the piece volta. In 2012, he won Fondo Fare Anticorpi in Emilia Romagna/IT for the creation of the solo 10 tracks for the end of the world. He won The Place Prize for Dance 2013 with Athletes and founded the contemporary dance/rock band The Plusies. In the same year, he was also chosen to join the international research projects ArtsCross London 2013 and Performing Gender. In 2015 Riccardo took part in the international residency MAM-Maroc Artist Meeting in Marrakech during which he created two installations exhibited at the Dar Si Said Museum. In 2015 he also created non finito a sei voci a short work on the students of Scuola del Balletto di Toscana, Florence. His latest independent creation No Lander is now on tour. In 2016 he presented In Parting Glass, an exhibition in collaboration with Richard Taylor at Summerhall, Edinburgh and collaborated with Flow Architecture for the creation of INTERTWINED, an installation part of London Festival of Architecture 2016, presented a new installation as part of i'm NOT tino sehgal at Nahmad Projects, London and directed his first opera, Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. From 2011 to 2015 Riccardo taught Choreography and Performance at Birkbeck University, London. He has taught professionals in Italy, UK, Spain and Russia.
